Through the Ladies of Letterpress, Blackbird Letterpress organized an Old Maid Card Swap. Each participant printed two different cards for the character they chose to create. Once completed, each participant would get a full deck. Tattooed Tina was our character in the swap. She’s an homage to the sensuous pinup girls of the 50s and the toughness of their contemporary counterparts. She’s equal parts Bettie Page, Kat Von D and a little rockabilly. When creating this character, we envisioned the boys off at war with Tattooed Tina’s pictures hanging on their mirrors and walls.

This was a fun project to work on. There were so many creative cards that came from very talented studios. Check out the other Old Maid characters here.
these are the most amazing cards, i so want the entire deck!
Thanks, Carina. That means a lot coming from you! According to Kathryn Hunter at Blackbird Press, the cards are on display from August 30 to October 1 at the Baton Rouge Gallery, Center for Contemporary Art (www.batonrougegallery.org). Pretty exciting!
